Arabo standard e ʿāmmiyya: esclusione e inclusione nei fumetti di ʿUmar Khūrī

Il fumetto per adulti si è sviluppato nei paesi arabi come un genere letterario indipendente e viene spesso utilizzato come uno strumento di critica sociale. Questo nuovo prodotto culturale tende a prediligere dal punto di vista linguistico l’uso del dialetto (‘āmmiyya) come varietà scritta al posto dell’arabo standard (Høigilt 2017a, Høigilt 2019, De Blasio 2020, inter alia). Tuttavia, nei fumetti Ṣālūn Ṭāriq al-Khurāfī (Il salone di Ṭāriq al-Khurāfī) e nel suo prequel Yūtūbiā (Utopia), entrambi dell’autore libanese ‘Umar Khūrī, trova spazio anche lo standard, usato da alcuni personaggi al posto del vernacolare. A partire dall’idea di lingua come marca identitaria e risorsa simbolica (Suleiman 2013), l’obiettivo dello studio è indagare la relazione tra la varietà linguistica e l’identità dei diversi personaggi ed esaminare di quali funzioni sociali e politiche la lingua è investita all’interno delle società immaginarie di questi fumetti.
